Black: Sliver reacts with salts or air to form black tarnish that rubs off onto skin. . Red: Nickel and other base metals can cause dermatitis and produce itchy, red skin. What I do when a jewelry tarnish on my skin is that, I moisten a washcloth with warm water and antiseptic soap to gently remove the stain or tarnish from my skin.
