Collagen- topical or internal?

Who’s tried a collagen moisturiser/ supplement ? I used a moisturiser a couple of years back and found it to be a good product! I’ve now started to use collagen supplement powder and hoping to see a positive result, excellent feedback from loads of people I have seen online. Plumping skin, improved acne, has anyone found these positive results too?

None of the above. Collagen in skincare has not supportive data, it gives temporary plumping effect but so does lots of other ingredients plus they generally make it more expensive for the hype. As for oral, before it can even be absorb by the skin, your gastric acids would have already degraded it so making it a pretty useless ingredient

i’m with ruthie here. there’s no real data for collagen in skincare, they are good hydrators and whatever effect they give is temporary. so collagen is not really a factor i take in when getting new skincare. as for oral collagen, studies are so contradicting there’s no way to determine whose is more reliable. but basic digestion knowledge would tell us that it gets broken down into amino acids which the body uses for everything—it doesn’t actually target your skin. you’d get the same thing if you consume anything with proteins. and ofc, our body doesn’t do well with excess anything so any unused proteins get converted into carbohydrates and fats instead. so honestly oral collagen is just a big scam a lot of people have fallen into. whatever effects people have seen is probably due to improved diet or a placebo at best.

I recently started taking a collagen supplement (it’s a powder I put in my coffee). I haven’t noticed any skin changes, but I did notice my nails growing faster so I hope it has a nice effect on my skin too!
