Every thing has a expiration date. The 6 months listed is its PAO or period after opening. So use it within that time.
When they label it like that it means they have studies its safety up to that time only and there is no more data beyond that date either because they ceased observating as its wasting money or it has degraded at that point where its not effective anymore
