I would also suggest if you’ve had recent barrier damage to stop using active ingredients for a few weeks. Using too many actives or too many new ingredients can cause barrier damage so yes, I suggest using them less or not at all for a few weeks

This is my favorite, the great barrier relief by krave beauty. It’s kind of pricey so if you’re on a budget CeraVe is made with ceramides which is one of the best ingredients for barrier repair.. I think the one by krave is $35.00 US and the CeraVe is more affordable at around $15.00 US. But honestly anything with ceramides will do good for repairing damage.

It depends on a moisturizer. A moisturizer with fatty acids, cholesterol and ceramides will do a wonderful job at helping it heal. Some other simple moisturizers might do a good job as well, but if it’s too light or if it has any strong actives it might not be the best at helping the barrier regenerate.

Ceramides, fatty acids and cholesterol are your best friends in a mositurizer
The Cerave cream has the three essential ceramides but uses petrolatum as occlusive an dtheregore I mean the First Aid Beauty cream is way superior, as it uses shea butter plus some calming ingredients as oaymt and licorice root
I will also be warry of my cleanser. You need to be gentle an duse a cleanser that doesn't strip your skin of its natural oils/moist.

I’m sorry that happened to you. Please stop using products with harsh ingredients until your skin heals. You may want to try products with peptides, fatty acids, cholesterol, and hyaluronic acid.
Ceramides are great too but it is an expensive ingredient so most ceramide products use too little ceramides. I prefer pseudoceramides.
- Hydroxypropyl Bispalmitamide MEA
Ex: Ceradan Repair Cream, Illiyoon Ato Intensive Cream
- Myristoyl/Palmitoyl Oxostearamide/Arachamide MEA
Ex: Zeroid Intensive Cream, Zerafite Barrier Repair Moisturizer
- Cetyl-PG Hydroxyethyl Palmitamide
Ex: Curél Intensive Moisture Cream
Here is a great read: https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/comments/cefcir/psa_research_why_most_ceramide_products_are_a_scam/
According to research, barrier recovery happens when the percentage of ceramides is 3% and the ratio of cholesterol to ceramides to free fatty acids is 3:1:1. It is said that most products from Cerave has .015% ceramides, Drunk Elephant LaLa Retro has .015%, Chemist Confessions Mr. Reliable has .045%, Liquid Gold has .15%. All pretty low but these products can still be good for your skin barrier because of other ingredients, not because of ceramides. Skinceuticals Triple Lipid has 2% ceramides but this product is super pricey.
