What is maskne?
Maskne(mask acne) is when you get acne because of wearing a face mask consistently & as we should. Due to heat, friction & sweat it causes bacteria to grow & develop acne especially if we have acne prone skin. Friction causes irritation, dryness which leads to compromised skin barrier.

Another tip would be use pimple patches instead of over doing with your exfoliants & treatments. Use treatments few times a week & when your skin is not irritated.

I think the biggest maskne preventative is wearing a CLEAN mask. Otherwise you’re just holding all of that dirt, oil & bacteria on to your skin for however long you wear your mask (and the mask is already the perfect dark, moist environment for bacteria to flourish in!)

i saw somewhere, a doctor said if you have maskne, do not use salicylic acid but find product with zinc pca instead. i'm not sure the reason behind.
