Why does everything smell like oil?

I’m all for cruelty free clean products but with that being said, why can’t they smell clean? Almost every product that I have smells like Crisco. When applying facial products, which aren’t cheap as we all know, I like to feel and smell clean not like I’ve stood over a deep fryer all day. I understand that some have sensitivity to fragrance but I am not above smelling like a million dollars over a medium fry.
