It comes from citrus fruit and a form of AHA in SOME formulation.
However since glycolic, lactic and other acids in the AHA family does a better job, it is now demoted to a pH adjuster to keep product in the right pH for the formulation
what product are you using that has citric acid that is irritating to you?

I see, it’s a brightening set. Try reducing the frequency of the usage especially the exfolliantor and don’t tell anyone in social media that it contains pumice, which is finely ground volcanic rock to exfoliate your skin, while an artificial pumice stone block is use to remove callus on feets. I doubt the latter is used in the formula.
The other products should be fine I think
