Using palm to apply exfoliating toner

Hi! I just want to ask if using hand (palm) instead of cotton is okay to apply an exfoliating toner? or is using a cotton pad a better option to exfoliate? This will be my first time using an exfoliating toner after switching from BHA cleanser. Thank you in advance to those who will reply!

You don't need to use cotton pads - it's wasteful and most of the product just remain in the cotton pad. You don't need to do physical exfoliation in addition to the chemical exfoliant you would be applying
