What were the sunscreen products used back in 2010's, 2000's and 1900's and even before that?

I'm just wondering what sunscreen brands/products people usually use back in the day when sunscreens were not that popular. Were they greasy? Were they heavy on whitecast and whatnot.

back in the 2000s I used aveeno’s positively radiant sunscreen! it was a staple that I used all throughout highschool. in the 2010s I loved Clarins sunscreen, it’s a watery formulation that worked really well under makeup. I also used Clinique’s city shield and Shiseido was a staple in the 2010s as well!
