You have several choices, but I would recommend one of the three: 1. Granactive Retinoid (HPR) - the newest retinoid on the market, it's technically an ester IIRC. Known to have minimal to no side effects, the most gentle retinoid on the market. Results are questionable though. 2. Retinaldehyde - like retinol this needs to convert to retinoic acid so your skin can use it. The thing with RetinAl is that it needs one less step of conversion before it can be used by your skin. You will see the side effects of retinization from this so start slow and build up after you get used to it. 3. Prescription Retinol - if you access to a dermatologist and they're willing to prescribe this to you, sure go ahead. It's the most studied and proven skincare ingredient so why not start from the source, right? Just be wary that you will have to adjust to this, side effects of this is more severe than OTC retinol products. Hope this helps.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this. Granactive Retinoid is an ester (so not even a derivative) and was formulated and marketed to state that there would be little to no side effects like traditional retinoids. Also Bakuchiol cannot be compared to retinoids, it hasn't been extensively studied unlike retinoids and as of right now, cannot replace the throne retinoids sit on.

I started with The Ordinary retinol 0.2% in squalane and my skin loved it! I am now using the 1% version.

I really like this one, it's in a moisturiser formulation so it's easier to do a sandwich method with it, they don't disclose the % of retinol in it but it feels to be begging friendly
