Hey pardon me but I'm gonna boast a bit and say that I liked Kbeauty before tmit was cool👵👵 This is the thing with 80s babies, we did everything before y'all💅🤣👵
So to be serious for 5 seconds, I like both. Western skincare filled the gap in term of textures, interesting ingredients, innovations and gentleness.
I remember when I was searching for acne products, everything from the West was so harsh and unbalanced. This is why I went for Asian skincare (Japan, India, Taiwan, Korea) because everything was more gentle, cheaper, balanced with pleasant textures.
Now that the west has filled the gap, I can find many products with crazy good textures, ingredients at affordable prices.
The only difference in my eyes is that Kbeauty had 1000000 times more variety than Western skincare. Because in the West it seems a bit harder to pop with a new brand or a new line literally each months.
Also, I wanna say that you guys are missing A LOT of you're limiting yourself to K-beauty when there's Taiwanese, Singaporean and Japanese beauty right there🤤🤤🙌🏼
Regarding K-pop, I liked DBSK and NCT Dream for a hot minute (my sister brainwashed me) but the abuse in the industry and all these talent agencies operating like cults turned me off real quick tbh😅
Korean thrillers though 👀😘🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼
EDIT: thanks for coming to my TED TALK🎤🧑🎤

Thank you for your opinion! I agree Kbeauty has more variety than Western skincare. In recent years, I noticed more and more Korean skincare (web)shops becoming available in my country, which leads to more accessibility to buying these skincare products.
Some of the (web)shops do sell Japanese skincare products, but these are still very limited. Also, Taiwanese and Singaporean skincare products are even harder to obtain in Western countries and are mostly expensive.
With everything being said, I would love to try out other Asian skincare products! I cannot wait until the time is here! 😁

i never known about these brands untill I found picky and these products are way better them our own. In the Netherlands we are way behind on kbeauty or kawaii product (Japanese I know) but I am now more aware of what i buy and where it comes from. But definitely k skincare, cosmetics i haven't tried yet.

Thank you for your comment! I am curious to know in what way you find Korean products are better than Western skincare products. Is it because of their innovations, ingrëdients or PR/marketing?
Also, I sense Korean cosmetics are becoming more popular in Western (web)shops. I am excited that Picky is expanding its skincare community to all beauty related!

I prefer Korean skincare products too, but I also use Cerave as my default products when my skin gets irritated 😅❤️

Relatable! When I have a weak skin barrier, I use La Roche-Posay cicaplast baume B5+. I heard so much about this product, and now it is my default product! 🤩

definitely love Kbeauty more! I love their approach with caring for the skin and overall hydration. I think western skincare is starting to follow that but kbeauty products have my heart ❤️
