If it works with your skin it's okay! There are no fixed rules, just find what's good for you. Also may I suggest you a micellar water cleanser? I also find that the normal micellar water is not enough to take off my make-up, even with a follow-up cleansing because it's made to be resistant and too much of it strips my skin as well. I solved my problem with one of those, it's very gentle and also unbelievably cheap (4€ for the full size). I think the one I use is local only, but I can give you an amazon/douglas link if it works for you.

What you're doing is fine! I've heard it's fine to use a water based cleanser twice.

try it out but
I tried this method and my pores were never as clean as with a balm and water based gel/foam afterwards.
having oily skin doesn’t mean hydrated, and even so I would say ( my personal opinion, am no esthetician) that even the excess oil that your skin produces will be cleansed better with a cleaning balm/oil! As with everything it depends how you use it.
Massagebinto your skin for 60 sec, emulsify with a bit of water and massage again 60 sec and then rinse, apply gel or foam, massage 60 seconds… you will be surprised but having a good double cleanse routine will actually balance your sebum production and your skin will transform.

i Know I've heard a lot of benefits of double cleansing with a balm and I've tried a couple of cleansing balms too but with not wearing makeup it just seems unnecessary to do so....it doesn't help any better than an extra cleanser and to me a hydrating cleanser before my regular cleanser seems to help a lot better haha!

it depends on your skin type, and if you didn’t use any water resistant products ifs fine.
