Can pha toners break you out?

I recently started using a pha toner, as much as I know they are gentle on the skin.. But I noticed some tiny Comedones on my cheeks so I'm suspecting it's because of that maybe? But I even changed my cleanser so maybe if it's because of the cleanser? I'm confused..

1) you could be purging, not breaking out. exfoliation helps push deeper clogs to thr surface, so they might be coming up. are these breakouts where you normally get them or all over? 2) could be a reaction to an ingredient. is your skin warm, red, or irritated after use along with bumps? that could be an allergic reaction.

they're all over my cheeks and some on the forehead, and I don't think it was an allergic reaction, it wasn't red or irritated but sometimes it would like tingle a little but.. (currently I've stopped using it as I'm trying to repair my skin barrier) but should I continue to use it?

definitely be cautious. it's better to wait and be gentle than try to repair a big mistake. if you do continue eith products, introduce them one at a time and phase them in slowly, skipping days

PHA or any other exfoliant should be used twice a week or at most, thrice.

Yes, make sure to introduce it to your routine slowly. Once or twice per week is enough. x
