I think just like skincare, you'll hit a price point peak with makeup that plateaus, meaning anything priced higher than that peak price point won't be of any better quality.
The most expensive lipstick I've ever bought was a Louboutin matte lipstick. I threw it away months ago because it was very old and molded! It was so gross. I have lipsticks older than it that still look and snell just fine!
So, I'm done with luxury skin topicals and most makeup. Especially lipsticks. Eyeshadow is something I'm willing to spend more on for quality and unique finishes/shades.

I totally agree Sasha! I had LβOrΓ©al lipsticks that preserved so much better than expensive ones! I do treat myself to some Dior now and then on sale, to lipoienproducgs I know I will use daily! have a great day!

I prefer high end lipsticks for the packaging, formulas, and most of all the shades. with drug store products I feel like usually one of those categories is missing. and since my collection is big enough I prefer quality over quantity.

I donβt usually spend a lot of money on Lipsticks because they do the same job. we have good local brands here in the Philippines like Sunnies. i love the formula and shades of their lipsticks. For me, it still depends on the preference of the user βΊοΈ

Actually I think lipstick is one category of make-up where is not necessarily worth to spend extra money on. It's nice, it's a treat to get a Dior or Charlotte Tilbury lipstick or whatever, but can you necessarily distinguish it from a drugstore one once it's on? Not really. I think one make-up category where investing makes sense are cream products, like cream bronzers and blushes, bc I have noticed that the cheaper ones tend to immediately melt away and disappear from your face. Though I am sure there are exceptions to this rule and there are good cheaper ones. Another category where investing makes sense is foundation, though to be fair that are good drugstore foundations, but it's just more likely that a drugstore one will look cake-y, will look like a mess after a few hours that you are wearing it etc. Whereas if you get one of the popular high-end ones you are pretty much guaranteed it's going to work. Eyeshadow is kind in the middle imho, yes the *really* cheap palettes are usually bad, but I don't think it's necessary to buy Natasha Denona either, there's plenty good cheapish ones, like Colourpop, Juvia's Place, Nyx, Beauty Bay own brand etc.
