Well, retinoids cause the gunky stuff deep within skin to come up faster. It's called "purging" when it occurs due to skincare actives. This cream contains bakuchiol, but also retinaldehyde, even though it is pretty far down the list.

oh so this is still purging? it thought its done when I got some on my chin and jaw then it went to my cheeks -.-

also I recommend you see a dermatologist if at all possible. this looks painful. I am not trying to be rude

My tretinoin purging lasted for weeks. I've had pretty clear skin since with small whiteheads, but no more large cystic acne. I've been using tret for 6 months now every night.

Not sure, but hormonal acne sometimes only happens on one side at a time. Mine would cluster up on one side, I would treat that side, then it would pop up on the other side.
