Olaplex for virgin hair?

After using Oribe and Revitalash shampoo/conditioner sets over the last year I’m ready to try something new and on a whim ordered Olaplex 4 and 5 during sale at Ulta and also an Amika Hydro Rush set. I have long thick wavy (sometimes frizzy) virgin hair and usually flat iron it. I know Olaplex is great for folks with processed hair but not sure if it’s all that special for virgin hair. I’d love to hear any opinions or experiences with either set on unprocessed hair since I’m considering returning the Olaplex. Thanks!

I don't think it does anything for unprocessed hair. Olaplex specifically claims that it helps repair the damage that is done by hair being processed (by bleach, colour, perm, etc). I would probably return it since Olaplex seems to have high user error, I know the controversy is around No. 3 and you ordered No. 4 & 5 which features less of their famous bond repairing ingredient.

Olaplex contains a special patented technology that can repair damaged hair bonds, so if olaplex will work for you depends on the kind of damage your hair has. 😉 Since bonds can be broken in multiple different ways like uv or heat damage not just by bleaching or dying it, olaplex will definitely still be useful for those with that kind of damage. Since you say that you flat iron it a lot I believe that olaplex can help improve your hair! 🥰 However if your main concern is dryness, olaplex won't do a whole lot...

Since you use heat often it ahould be fine. Id rather Go for #6 which will moisture the hair. K18 may be an even better option. When you color/bleach/frequently use heat on your hair, olaplex acts like a glue to prevent breakage and rebuild the hair structure. Ask a hair stylist what products would be suitable for your hair type/goals.

I have used Olaplex, I think I have their whole system from home use, and I would say return it. I have highlighted hair that is very fine and damaged (according to my doctor COVID caused this ??). It honestly didn't seem to do much. I followed directions but my hair didn't seem to improve much, definitely not considering the price tag. I have been using K18 for about 6 weeks (I only wash once weekly) and this has done much more for my hair. So, like others have said before me, I would recommend K18 for sure. Also, with you just getting the shampoo and conditioner, I'm not sure what kind of improvement you would see without using the actual pre-shampoo treatment #3 (and even the spray #1 that's used before #3). Anyway, my verdict is return.
