Benzoyl peroxide work as an antiseptic to reduce the number of germs (bacteria) on the surface of your skin. It's usually one of the first treatments recommended for mild to moderate acne. So the Benzac spot treatment would have been more effective.
IN YOUR CASE I would recommend you to use other products to help with your pimple marks (hyperpigmentation). > benzoyl peroxide arenโt recommend for that issue. For pimple marks products with niacinamide, alpha Arbutin, vitamin c, retinol are effective.
Your closed comedones can be treated with BHA (salicylic acid),
AHAs may help to improve skin texture as well as fading dark spots
PHA (chemical exfoliant which does the same but less sensitising than AHAs)
or LHA (gentle exfoliant similar to glycolic acid) which is ideal for people with general sensitivity towards salicylic acid.
They work by exfoliating dead skin cells on the surface, evening skin tone and texture.

Benzoyl peroxide is more effective on acne, not acne scars/pimple marks. You'll need brightening products for that. Products that contains ingredients like niacinamide, alpha arbutin, vitamin c and tranexamic acid are great for brightening and lightening dark spots. For closed comedones, try exfoliating regularly with AHAs or BHA.

Do you have any experience with benzoyl peroxide? I think benzac is more concentrated, the ingredient list is simple and straightforward. LRP effaclar has more ingredients and some help to buffer the more potent ones. Both are quite similar, LRP maybe more gentle if compared to benzac.
Benzoyl peroxide(BP) is not effective for pimple marks, you'll have better chance with niacinamide instead. BP works best to kill bacteria.
