Sol de Janeiro

I’ve heard a lot of good things about sol de janeiro as a brand and the fragrances in their lotions, but I have also heard things like fragrances are bad for your skin. What are your opinions on this?

Their products are way too scented for me - they actually give me a headache! I want to love them, but they’re just too much. I don’t worry about the fragrance hurting my skin since my body’s skin is less sensitive than my facial skin, but it is overwhelming and lasts a while. If you love strong scents that last all day, then it’s perfect for you!

I don't have sensitive skin, and have no problem wearing this brands lotions. I would buy a small container to start with so you can try it out without being stuck with a bunch of it in case your skin doesn't like the fragrance. I love how their lotions smell.

I have not heard of this brand. But fragrance such as essentials in skincare can sensitize your skin causing irritation and breakouts. It's normally tolerated well you don't necessarily need to avoid it unless it's high in concentration. If you have eczema or very sensitive skin it would be best to avoid products with alot of fragrance.

Fragrance is a demonized chemical, same as alcohol, and both are necesary to stabilize the products. Yes, some products have a high percentage of these chemicals which they can induce skin irritation to people with pre existing allergies but the majority are balanced so is less probably it'll occur. If you have a predetermined sensitivity of one or both you have to be careful when choosing and always patch test before going to use them fully..

I don’t mind fragrances in body care as I like smelling nice throughout the day.I feel like fragrance isn’t as bad as it sounds unless you have really sensitive skin.
