ESSENCE before or after treatment?

Hi there, do you use essence before or after your treatment serums - such as Vitamin C or Retinol?

I usually use essences after toner and before serum or instead of serum or instead of toner (depends on product). It is better to apply products with retinoids on clean dry skin.

Depends on essence and vitamin c/retinol textures. Plus as for me I do not recommend use an essence with retinol.

I'm using essences in am routine before serum/ampoule and after toner. Or you can use it when you don't have an actives in your PM routine. The texture of my essences is slightly thicker than water.

For lightweight watery essences, I'd use it before serums. But for essences with a thicker texture that is almost identical to serums (like snail mucin essence), I'll use it in the serum step. Again, it depends on the texture. If the serum is lighter in consistency than the essence, then I'll use the serum first. But if the serum is heavier or thicker, then essence first. When in doubt, always stick to the thinnest to thickest rule.
