Difference between glass vs dewy skin?

There's so many terms going around regarding this sort of skin, so I was wondering if there a differnce and why people would prefer one over the other.

I could add “glowy” as being one of term. I personally believe it’s just a thesaurus of a skin condition where it looks smooth, with no visible pores or imperfection with a slight reflective surface that reflect light. With skincare, makeup, good lighting, good angles and filters, pretty much everyone can look glass skin via pictures. But in real life glass skin, looks boarderline greasy and oily tbh.

I wasn't sure if these were all different finishes but they all looked the same. I was wondering if these looks depended on the types of make up used and its compatibility. But so long as the skin looks clean and smooth, I don't have qualms about it!

Technically, dewy is the more accurate term to describe healthy, hydrated, moist/wet looking skin, whereas glass skin is actually a trend to describe skin looking clear, translucent, smooth, flawless just like glass. Glass skin is a trend, while dewy is one of the many adjectives to describe it. I use all these terms interchangeably. There's a lot more similar 'trends' like mochi skin, honey skin, cream skin, jello skin, mirror skin, cloud skin, etc. People do be creating a bunch of new terms on social media for clout and marketing 😪

I’ve used those terms interchangeably when I’m picturing glowing, moisturized, almost wet looking skin. But if I were to think more specifically about each term I would say I think glass skin is always dewy but dewy skin isn’t necessarily always glass skin. Glass to me means clear like glass; so no spots, not really any visible pores or texture, just super perfect skin. Whereas to me dewy skin doesn’t have to be perfectly clear, it just has to have that super hydrated and pump look.

The main difference between glass and dewy skin is the finish. Glass skin aims for a poreless, matte, and almost reflective look, while dewy skin focuses on a fresh, hydrated, and luminous glow. People may prefer one over the other based on their skin type and personal style, with glass skin leaning towards a more perfected look and dewy skin for a natural, healthy radiance.

The preference for a dewy look or the glass skin trend can vary depending on personal preference rather than specific skin types. However, those with oily skin might find the glass skin trend to appear greasier due to the natural oiliness of their skin. In such cases, a more matte or natural finish may be preferred. It's always best to experiment and find what works best for your unique skin type and personal style. Personal preference plays a significant role in choosing the right look.
