The Ordinary's expiry date?

It seems to me that TO provides only PAO (period after opening), which doesn't provide a full picture of the expiry date. How do you ensure that your TO products are not near to expiry?

I don’t buy products that i won’t open in the next year. Stocking up for the next few years seems a little excessive😅 the products have 3 years of shelf life if unopened so i assume i have around 2-2.5 years still to use it up after buying it, although i believe with the demand for their products we’ll get the freshly manufactured batches.

Don’t know about the US and Canada, but in the EU, if the shelf life of a product exceeds 30 months, you don’t need to put expiration date and only the PAO is necessary. If you buy from a reputable source, your products should still be good about that long. I only buy directly from deciem and their shelf life is 36 months minimum. So 3 years. Since they put out new batches of products pretty frequently, it’s safe to assume you get your products 1-3months after it has been manufactured, so still more than 2.5 years before it reaches it’s expiry date. If you are worried about it, switch your retailer for a trusted one that won’t sell you a products from 3 years ago. You can check the number of batch on Deciem’s packaging to be sure and contact the brand with it if you have your doubts. They will be able to tell you the exact expiry date of every batch.

Whenever I buy one of the ordinary products, I immediately write the expiry date on the bottle with a marker. I also set several reminders on my phone to remind me of which products are nearing expiry.

I’ve noticed that the ordinary products tend to get a little smelly when they’ve been opened or unused for a while! For example my Niacinamide started to smell a little bitter. You could use that as an indicator if you forget when you’ve opened it. This doesn’t necessarily mean they’ve expired, but it definitely has surpassed a few months at that point.

you should aim to finish the product within 12 months after you open it. if your face starts to itch that will be a clear sign too
