tinted sunscreen and BB cream

Hi darlings, I think I've come to a conclusion — which may be stupid for some and surprising for others. BB Cream and tinted sunscreen are basically the same thing, right? I mean, both promise a lighter and more natural coverage, most BB creams nowadays invest in protection factors above 30, and sunscreens now add vitamins and some types of formulations that for a small period of time were exclusive to BB creams. I came to this conclusion after extensive research to decide which of the two would be better to buy. I realized that the two had many similarities and I couldn't tell any differences.

No, they are not the same. BB creams are still considered makeup, it's a base product like foundation with added SPF. Sunscreen, tinted or not, is skincare and provides more thorough UV protection than any makeup. BB creams won't be able to provide the same amount of protection as a dedicated sunscreen could, they are not designed for prolonged sun exposure. Plus, no one would apply as much BB cream as they would apply sunscreen (2 fingers worth or 1/4 teaspoon) in order to get the same amount of protection as labelled on the bottle as it would result in thick, cakey looking skin. So no, BB cream/CC cream/foundation/skin tints cannot replace sunscreen. They are definitely not the same.

Thank you for responding to my post, I would almost buy a BB cream instead of a tinted sunscreen

It’s different. Bb cream is more like foundation but lighter form. They may include sunscreen in some products like IT cosmetics but it would be just tiny bit. As for tinted sunscreen is basically sunscreen but a bit of skin colouring.
