oil cleansers made me break out

post puberty (im 21) ive had clear skin with small pores and my main concern was texture/uneven skin tone i tried the beauty of joseon oil cleanser for a few weeks and started breaking out really bad so i switched to the anua heartleaf oil cleanser, its been maybe 6 weeks and my pores are really bad and my skin is rough with a lot of acne ive stopped using the oil cleansers but im so scared my skin wont go back to how it was before and obviously really upset that its gotten so much worse and i have no idea why my skin reacted so badly to oil cleansers photos are before/after this whole thing please help 😭

Hi, I usually to this Caudalie serum whenever I’m dealing with breakouts and it works really well for me (it’s not drying). I would also add a cica toner or essence to help sooth the skin. Since cleansing oils don’t agree with you I would go for a micellar water to remove makeup/sunscreen and follow up with a gentle cleanser like the Dr.G gel one (especially as the weather is warming up). It sucks when our skin freaks out but it’ll get better!

Make sure you're emulsifying the oil before rinsing it off and follow with a water-based cleanser afterwards. For now though, stop using the oil cleansers and just focus on the basics – gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. No actives or anything fancy until your skin recovers.

Yikes, it’s probably best to simplify your skincare routine until the storm blows over. All the best!!

Oh no. Yea I don’t think cleansing oils work that great with oily skin. I’d switch to another water based cleanser till they clear up. I use the Anua oil cleanser by putting it on my dry face, rub it in, (removes makeup, sunscreen and dirt) add water to get a milky texture and rub it in with both really good (cleans pores), rinse, then go in with a water based cleanser (gets rid of all oils). It is VERY important to use another cleanser after oil cleansers since they don’t get rid of oils!!!!! It has been working for me really well but when I was using it wrong it was giving me white heads. It might be something in them though that may not work for you!
