Is my new SA cerave cleanser responsible for worsening my clogged comodones

I bought this new cleanser because I got recommended to exfoliate my face 1-2x a week, I had blackheads around my nose yes it helped but after weeks of using it I noticed that my closed comodones got worse like I never had this much before. My upper and lower cheeks are having closed comodones and idk what to do😭. I’m a combination girl, 17 years old pls help😭

salicylic acid doesn’t cause purging. Anything which doesn’t increase your cell turnover doesn’t cause purge. Purge is from increased cell turnover that is done by retinoids, glycolic acid but NOT salicylic acid.

Stop using it and see if your skin improves!

Is that the only thing that's new or different to your routine? If it cleared your blackheads, it shouldn't have caused closed comedones anywhere else because salicylic acid works to clear clogged pores. You might be purging. Salicylic acid can cause purging in the beginning, but it'll get better in a few weeks. Since it's a salicylic acid cleanser, the purge shouldn't be as bad as a retinoid purge and should resolve soon
