Can you use powder over your sunscreen?

I created a tiktok showing a hack I use to prevent my oily face from being shiny after using my sunscreen by dabbing small amounts of unscented powder into the skin (not rubbing) and people told me to not do it but i’m wondering why? isn’t it safe practice? I currently use this bondi sands sunscreen lotion btw and i like it, but i could use a better option tbh but others are expensive.

I don’t think it’s bad , it’s just like makeup over sunscreen

I almost always use setting powder over the sunscreen, but wait 15-20 minutes after applying

I think it’s fine. I would wait about 10 minutes for the sunscreen to absorb into your skin first. I typically use a oily blotting sheet after sunscreen to remove some shine.

won’t that take off some of the sunscreen? i think i saw the absorption time online as well so I’ll definitely note that, thank you for your response.

Dry/Sensitive

I always set my makeup with setting powder after sunscreen. I do wait 5 to 10 minutes to allow my sunscreen to dry before applying my foundation, they I was an additional few minutes to allow my foundation to settle. Haven’t had any problems so far! I also like to use blotting papers to dry up any shine without disturbing my makeup. I like DHC, Softymo, and especially Pallado Rice Papers to name a few. They help any dry up any shine throughout the day without the need for more powder.
