Adapalene is a retinoid that increases cell turnover and helps with comedones. However, as retinoids can cause skin sensitivity, you need supporting products. First, use a zinc oxide cream or ointment, easily available at pharmacies and affordable. When starting Adapalene, apply it one day, then for the next two days, use your regular moisturizer and zinc oxide ointment at night. On the fourth days, use Adapalene again, followed by two days of moisturizer and zinc oxide. This helps build tolerance while protecting your skin barrier. Gradually increase Adapalene's frequency and decrease zinc oxide use. Second, Panthenol ointment is essential. It's also inexpensive and provides instant soothing when your skin feels overworked from Adapalene or any retinoid. Having zinc oxide and Panthenol in your skincare routine is crucial. Additionally, use an acne-safe gel moisturizer. I recommend the e.l.f. Super Hydrate Moisturizer, which comes in a purple tub. It hasn’t caused acne for me, unlike others I've tried. Sunscreen is also necessary when using Adapalene; I suggest Skin Aqua Super Moisture SPF 50 PA++++. It's a lightweight Japanese sunscreen that doesn’t clog pores or cause acne. At night, double cleanse with Garnier Micellar Water and your regular facial cleanser. I use Hydro Boost Gel Cleanser. I have put the micellar water in a spray bottle, and i spray it all over my face (better for the skin and environment), gently massage the face to remove the sunscreen and then follow with my cleanser. My routine is simple and effective. After dealing with acne since puberty, I’m 30 years old now, and Adapalene is the only product that has provided consistent results, nearly clearing my acne entirely.

Go to your doctor and get a prescription gel. That's what I did and my skin cleared up easily
