Alya skin is an Australian brand that started off with their famous pink clay mask. This brand always came up in ads on my social media and I saw lots of Australian ambassadors promoting how greats their products were. The brand looks very pink and aesthetic, so I was interested to see how their products would work with my skin.
I was never a fan of physical exfoliators and was very cautious when using this scrub. Not knowing how ruff it was I started off using it twice a week put stopped after my third use. It would leave my skin looking red for the next day and stinging after I washed it off no matter how gentle I was. I will admit that it did make my skin feel slightly smoother
With my first use I rubbed the scrub in my hands to see how rough the pomegranate seeds were, and they didn’t fell to bad. I was expecting this since Alya adversities it as a gentle scrub. As soon as I softly applied the scrub to my face it felt like I was using rock salt. It was such an uncomfortable feeling and I could only imagine that damage it was doing to make my skin “smooth”. I could only handle a sort while before I had to wash it off my face and cleanse to feel clean again
The scrub contains a large amount of fragrance which is always irritating to the skin. When you have to rub this in the irritation from the fragrance is so much worse. It also contains coconut oil which I am allergic too as is a product I don’t like in skincare on general
This scrub did make my skin feel smoother after use but at what cost? My skin was red the next morning after using the scrub. My skin would sting and burn slightly after washing it off and would only go away with a good quality cleanser. And after a few uses I started to break out. This product has so many hyped up reviews and people saying that it is a great product. I am glad that they like it, but for me I won’t be using this product again. It’s not worth the risk
