Pure Active Gel Cleanser Oily Skin

product review positives
[Reviewing for you: The Garnier Pure Active gel cleanser for oily skin] [Updated 230914] [Main ingredients] • salicylic acid (chemical exfoliant) • zinc derivative • menthol • eucalyptus extract This gel cleanser promises to gently yet effectively cleanse away impurities, “fighting” imperfections, pimples and oily complexion. 🫧purifying, reducing the appearance of pores 🫧contains salicylic acid as well as zinc derivative for a mattifying effect 🫧leaves skin fresh, oiliness is reduced 🫧less shiny complexion afterwards 🫧affordable and accessible [Packaging] Comes in a transparent blue plastic bottle with a pump. 200ml / 2,55€ [Usage] As the gel cleanser foams up well, one pump was enough to cleanse my face completely. It’s a quiet viscous gel type cleanser but lathers into finer bubbles than expected. When applying it has a minty scent which can sting one’s eyes. [Opinion] Honestly, this cleanser is a great choice for oily skin types but rather on the harsh side for me. Bought it for my seasonal oily skin since my t-zone tends to get oilier faster in summer. Was definitely not disappointed because the cleanser had a great effect on my skin, making it less oily within one use. Nevertheless I found it to be too drying in long term use. When used everyday, I noticed my skin getting dried out which isn’t ideal either. Also my skin got even oiler after some time because as we all know, dry skin produces more sebum/oil to keep itself moist. After using it everyday in my PM routine I determined to use it only once to twice a week so my skin does not get dried out too much. I don’t know how it would work on very oily skin types but personally the product isn’t the right choice. But it indeed makes skin feel clean and fresh afterwards, leaving that minty feeling on the skin. Another point I noticed it that slight stinging near my eyes when washing my face with this product (most probably because of the menthol/eucalyptus extract). On the other hand it indeed helped to make pores stay less visible since salicylic acid is oil soluble/attracted to oil and penetrates deeper into pores, cleansing/exfoliating them. As mentioned above, I reduced the usage of the product and mostly used it as a refreshing body cleanser. To summerize, I have mixed feelings about this product since I liked the refreshing feeling of it yet I did not like how drying it is on my skin since salicylic acid and menthol is included. Still sceptical but was the try worth for me! [Update #1] With the recently high temperatures I have found to be a awesome product with slight cooling sensation for heated skin! Somehow noticed that I did not sweat as much as usual after washing my face with this gel cleanser. Did not break out.
product review negatives
📍chemical exfoliant! Might be irritating for everyday use 📍menthol/eucalyptus extract can be potentially irritating 📍definitely not for sensitized skin types (oily yet sensitive)
