Can the Cerave pm lotion cause purging?

I started the lotion at the beginning of this month with the Neutrogena hydroboost spf 30. The month is ending now and my skin is worse than before. I have now more and bigger pimples and also on my forehead. I'm not sure if I'm purging or breaking out from one or both of them.

hi! the pm lotion have niacinamide which can cause purging. What I am more concern about is the neutrogena lotion, it has alcohol denat which can be drying and cause break outs as well as fragrance which can be irritating. Im not sure which one of these can cause you irritation, or if your skin break out from too much moisture, so I think you should remove one of them in your routine to see how your skin react, then do the same thing for the others. You can patch test on your neck behind your ears to see how your skin react. I hope this can help :)

I don’t know what the issue is, but I wouldn’t think the CeraVe is the issue, because the ingredients are fine. The neutrogena one contains Fragrance that could be a problem if your skin is sensitive. Also I would definitely recommend to use a treatment with salicylic acid/BHA if you’re not already using one , that helps with pimples Hope that helps :)

hey, but if you skip using that sunscreen you should definitely use a different SPF. The CeraVe cleanser is a good Option and a great start when you starting to use exfoliating products.

and can I ask what’s your full skincare routine? Then we could see what else we are doing for your breakouts
