Should we trust korean sunscreen(s)?

Hello guys! Recently we heard shocking news (again) from korean skincare brand that they spf level was not same as they stated on the product. What's y'all thoughts about this? Should we trust korean sunscreens?

I think the right question is: should we still trust private labs with economic interest and looking for more profit to do valid and reliable tests?? Or should we let public financed labs and health authorities be the ones guarding our health?? There's been enough scandals of private labs and universities manipulating data. This is one example more.

I trust European SPF products more not because of the brand but because a lot of consumer associations very often send those products to be tested in independent labs and public universities do also a lot of tests. Many brands know this is going to happen so they work really hard on formulations and send them to get checked by independent or university labs prior to launch. Also some medical labs make great SPFs like Heliocare made by Cantabria Labs and some have lines specially developed for cancer patients. That can raise the standards There's been scandals too and SPF products that didn't meet the stated SPF.

I still trust Korean sunscreens. SPF30 blocks 97% of UVB rays and SPF50 blocks 98% of UVB rays, so the difference is only 1%. The Cosrx one at SPF38 is going to block closer to 97.5% or about 1/2 of a percent difference vs SPF50. As long as you have something that is least SPF30 there isn’t much difference

I honestly still trust Korean sunscreens. I am just more wary of what manufacturer they come from, and make sure it's not the same as the manufacturer of Purito, Keep Cool, Dear Klairs, etc.

I don’t trust korean sunscreens ever since. I haven’t bought any korean sunscreens before. They’re expensive and I don’t trust the formulation well enough despite Korea having good skincare products. I still trust Japan for sunscreen products. I purchased only 2 korean sunscreens which are very CHEAP and i’m sure don’t have much spf. I just use them on my hands.

There are I think 2 more non Korean sunscreen that also did not pass the test so it might be a global industry issue not limited to Korea
