Thoughts on Krave's recent announcement

I know a few weeks ago there was a lot of talk, rightfully so, surrounding Krave Beauty and their own Liah Yoo regarding the church she supported and frequented. Today I got this email about some donations that Krave is making to the LGBTQIA+ community. What do you think about it, does it feel authentic? Is this enough to convince you that Krave Beauty is trying to show support for our community? As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I personally felt pretty happy when I got this email, but I always like to hear everyone else's perspective on these things! 🀍

To be honest i dont know how authentic this is.... Like I really appreciate it that they donate it but are they only doing this to save their image? I think for now we dont know if they're really doing this because they want to support the community. So this isn't convincing enough. We just need to wait how things develop in the future! But still I'm happy that they donated!

I think this is a great perspective! it's important to be skeptical in situations like this while still giving "benefit of the doubt" for lack of better words. thanks for your opinion 🀍🀍

Honestly, Krave has been around for a few years now and have they ever contributed to queer causes before they were outed for monetarily supporting a queer hating church? I don’t think so, so I think this is just damage control. Churches are tax exempt as it is, they already get support from the government, it’s pretty weird that Liah felt the need to go out of her way to support them. what does that say about her values? I know she was a famous youtuber in her own right but the only reason I ever heard of her or Krave existing is because of gay influencers, she does owe them for her success. A lot of churches and religious organizations spends their donated money on campaigning against women’s rights and against queer rights so I think we should draw a hard line and boycott anyone that supports these kind of organizations.

that's the thing! how do we know if they haven't donated before? I've only been using krave since the beginning of the year shortly before all the news came out, but it's hard to say for sure if they donated previously? would love to know the answer to that! you bring up some very interesting points to think about. this is exactly the response I was hoping for- great perspective xx 🀍

I'm curious, did it mention how much they plan to donate? If they do this regularly, then I will accept it as sincere, but of course only time will tell whether this becomes a normal thing for them. EDIT: Oh, I see, the other screenshots didn't load for me at first! I dunno, $10,000 spread out across three orgs when their revenues for the year will be so much higher than that... πŸ€”

very good point, 10k to them is probably a very small amount in the grand scheme of things.

Although its good that they donated, considering the timing, I would say that it seems to be quite performative just to save their image. But that's just me🀷

it very well could simply be just this. I would be curious to know if they've ever donated or anything before this
