I definitely wouldn’t mix the two products tightly as in on the hand and then apply such a mix. As far as layering goes, you could layer acids and retinol and acids, but it may cause some irritation or dryness if your skin isn’t used to it. But since you only apply your retinol once every few weeks, I’d skip the gel for this one night as it won’t really make a difference, but the chances of irritation would be much lower😉

You could layer the two, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Since you don’t use retinol every night, it would probably be best for your to save the BHA for a night when you don’t use retinol so that you avoid irritation. The extra chemical exfoliation could dry you out or overly sensitive your skin.

Definitely don’t mix cause it might cause irritation. Use them on separate days. Also, to really get the benefits of retinol you should use it at least twice a week. Once every 3 weeks might not do anything for your skin.

Can you mix Retinol with CREME CLASSIQUE Beta Hydroxy Gel i.e Salicylic acid?
Yes! Contrary to popular belief, you can use Retinol with Salicylic Acid but proceed with caution. Here’s why.:
Retinol helps reduce visible skin aging while Salicylic Acid clears up breakouts, but using them at the same time can cause irritation.
Truth is, you CAN use them together – if you use the right product and follow our expert tips
Retinol works by going into the follicle and communicating with cell receptors to help stimulate skin renewal and increase cell turnover. This helps reduce visible signs of skin ageing
Salicylic Acid removes skin cells superficially (on the skin’s surface), and helps kill breakout-causing bacteria. It is an extremely effective Beta Hydroxy Acid that helps clear blockage in follicles, such as excess oil and debris.
Traditional Retinol formulas can be extremely unstable: they break down upon exposure to light. Furthermore, they don’t play well with Salicylic Acid on skin because the combined effect can be too harsh (think redness, dryness and flaking). To get around this problem, most skin experts recommend using acids only during the day if you’re using Retinol at night. But with Dermalogica’s new Retinol Clearing Oil, we’ve cracked the code.
Retinol and Salicylic Acid can both increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun, so always wear sunscreen. If your current sunscreen feels like it’s generating too much heat (i.e. if you feel a burning sensation), switch to a physical or mineral-based sunscreen.

I do use a mineral sunscreen, especially when I do a chemical peel or wear retinol, I kinda forget to reapply every 2 hours tho but thats eh. Also, thank you so much I had no idea how they work and this was so very educational!! Yes the bha gel includes sa as well as glycolic acid and some others
