I wish i knew earlier about the importance of sunscreen. I just started wearing sunscreen last month, and im already in my 30's, maybe my skin looks radiant than my skin today.😥😥

That part right there. I always thought my melanin = protection from the sun. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Well, when you know better, you do better, I guess? 😅

Exactly! I just started to use it by last year and bcs of this pandemic I have more time then I know that sunscreen is one of the most important things in our skincare routine and has to reapply

Lol yeah! Always thought sunscreen was just for beach days. I also wish I knew earlier about establishing a skincare routine. I've only done it early this year and wish I started earlier. 

sad but true!🥺 Im 24 and having dark spots all over my cheeks just because i rarely use sunscreen. from all the skincare steps i take, i often ignore sunscreen. i thought it only helps me from sunburn🥴 sunscreen is important for our skin

how good is our skincare its nothing without sunscreen :(

I also thought that spf is only for swimming in the beach when summer and only fair/white skin needs to put spf. So i never use spf even in swimming 😥. I was so ignorant when it comes to skincare before.😥😥
But Thanks to Picky i gained a lot of useful information about taking care of my skin.

Same here, I just started using sunscreen a couple of months ago. I wish I have started when I was younger

it’s sunscreen for me too 😢 as well as moisturizer in general! I went through my teens and 20s with a completely bare face because I was told that was better for the oil and acne 

I also agree that I wish I knew how important Sunscreen was but better late than never! I feel people are explaining the negative side-effects of the sun over the positive now which is helping people realize the importance of it.  I thought the sun was good for your skin because that's what I was told when i was younger 

yes I know that feeling, I just buy a sunscreen already for the first time in my 24's :( I thought that isn't for a basic skincare and I'm wrong 😔

I really wish I knew to avoid physical exfoliants! I used to use st Ives scrubs and scrub really hard thinking it would make my acne go away ( in my defence they always marketed it to work for acne). But now I’ve learned that being gentle with your skin is whats most important! go slow, use lower percentage actives! 🥰

So, if I could tell my younger self (or my 15 yo daughter, with whom I have told) things about skincare, of course using an SPF!!!!!! NO BABY OIL OR TANNING BEDS!
Also those infamous physical scrubs (from most notably St. Ives, but MANY others had a version as well) that supposedly  helped create "minor tears" (more like MAJOR tears) on the skin, which, in theory, would cause the skin to stimulate itself to heal....they saturated the market with mashed up nut shells in skincare & called it genuis, said it did everything from get rid of dead skin(or a few IMPORTANT layers of healthy skin) unclogged pores,  helped with wrinkles, removal of makeup, etc etc etc...This stuff are what skin has nightmares about...our skin cells probably have PTSD ...I would say stay away!!!! The cleanser part was still terrible & loaded with sulfates (what gives your skin the squeaky clean feeling), basically stripping your skin of ALL oils, not just the "extra sebum buildup" that "clogged our pores & caused acne" (another not so true statement). Your skin, especially at certain ages,, NEEDS those natural oils...a gentle gel cleanser with some good nutrients, Acids & NO sulfates would have been miraculous for me!
Remember also being told that you start your skincare with warm water to open your pores & end it with cold water to close them? yeah, NOT TRUE, NOTHING IS TRUE ABOUT THIS!.Warm or hot water or even steam doesn't "OPEN" a pore, there's no such thing. Same with cold water closing a pore. The best is to start and end with cool water....the tempature of the water can inhibit ingredients from penetrating the skin as well as normal (like with goosebumps, sweating,etc your pores are less likely to "receive" added topicals bc its in a state of protection) but yeah, pores don't magically open & close (& they don't get bigger &/or shrink with a serum)....genetics determines majority of how pores look. The APPEARANCE of pores can be helped by smoothing the skin with use of topical skincare, but that's it....
Man, where were all the actual Dermatologist u til around 2008-2010? Were they misguided in school? alot of lies were told & people frantically bought anything that scrubbed, burned, or attacked our skins natural oils (aka being greasy, again, not a thing...oily skin is an overproduction of these oils and a good, nutshell free cleanser massaged into skin for at least 30 seconds will help wash away those extra oils that overload the skin, they can trap in anything that got on your skin while oils were produced that day/night, but can easily be washed away along with any environmental build up, makeup, etc.

Oh, gosh - those were my first attempt at skincare as a teen…oof! Might as well have been using granite. 🤦🏾‍♀️😂 Well, we’ve lived and learned! And, for reference, I was a teen more than 30 years ago. They’ve been tearing up faces for a loooong time! 😳

I wish I knew about Picky community earlier! I learn a lot from here. There are so many helpful information and reviews that I can rely on to find the best suitable skincare routine. 💖💕🎀💖💕🎀

I wish I wore sunscreen as a kid but I was a serious sun addict always at the beach. Now I have hyperpigmentation that has plagued me since my twenties from the damage I did to my skin. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Skincare is a long-term investment. Don’t give up on them too early because consistency is key. You will look back ten years for now and thank yourself for all the time and money you invest in yourself
 
There is no quick fix, especially for acne. Your acne didn’t develop overnight, and it won’t go away that fast either. So, stop buying products that promise an instant cure 
 
DIY skincare is (mostly) never a good idea. I would never ever put that lemon or baking soda on my face ever again. There is so much misleading information online related to "natural-DIY" skincare and you should double-check the information before you do anything crazy on your skin
 
You don’t need a multiple-step routine to fulfill your skin's basic needs. You just need a few ‘right’ products to provide the basic need, everything else is just an extra. Do it only when it adds joy to your routine
