Repairing my skin barrier (HELP!)

Hey guys, (I’m new to this app so apologies if I am doing this wrong) I’m currently trying to repair my skin barrier due to acne, I’ve been doing it for about 5/6 weeks now. I’ve done some research into this… Here is what I’m doing: - stopped using products with active ingredients - using a gentle gel cleanser - using a hyaluronic acid serum - using a very gentle and simple moisturiser - do this for 2-3 months until my skin improves and then slowly add back in my other products/replace products The problem is that I am breaking out now probably more than I was before? I don’t know whether it’s because I have stopped using my BHA? Or could it be that the moisturiser I’m using is very oily? I’m not sure what’s causing my current breakouts because people say once your barrier is repaired your acne should improve but it has been getting worse. Should I continue to do what I’m doing for 2-3 months (as apparently this is how long it takes to repair) and then see what happens? Should I change my moisturiser? Is it too early to start using my BHA again? 😥 (See attached photos from a really useful Instagram account I used to advice myself on repairing my skin barrier)

Please listen to your skin and not guides! Every skin is different. I personally think that 2-3months are a really long period. Usually if your barrier is damaged then youre usinng too much actives and you're skin is compromised. Try to use a BHA and see how your skin reacts to it. If you're breaking out more than I would focus on your barrier. I would change your moisturizer and see how your skin reacts.

ceramides (esp. paired with HA), cica, cholesterol and panthenol are all great ingredients to help repair I agree with clumpy, check in with your skin and just follow what it's telling in terms of needs :) I personally have sensitive and dehydrated skin I have been using the above products and have been loving the results :)

when I was having a breakout I cut off all of my products and just focus on hydrating my skin and I use calming and soothing products. When I could no longer control my acne I go back to the basic routine which is cleanser, moisturizer and SPF. There I found my Acne starting to disappear and that's where I started to add again some products, I add one product at a time to observe what causes my breakout. Those are the three products I use during my break outs.
