PAO vs. Expiry Date

What's the difference between Period-After-Opening and Expiry Date? Should I stop using the product after PAO? Or is it still safe to use as long as it is not yet expired? PS: I am thinking of purchasing the Isntree BHA Toner but I saw that its PAO is only six months. Now I am a bit confused if I should continue buying it since it takes how many months before I totally consume a product especially when it comes from a large bottle.

So Expiration date refers to the moment in which the opened product will cease to perform as stated from the brand (shelf life): oils will start to get rancid, separate, start to loose moist or whatever. PAO refers to to the amount of time the opened product will be stable. Due to air oxidation, bacteria contamination (there's only an amount of preservative) or so on, the product should be tossed out after that date. So, if a product has a expire date 1.1.2022 you should have used the product before that time. If you opened the same product the 1.1.2021. and the PAO is 6 months, you should have tossed it out before the 01.7.21 If you first opened the product the 1.9.2021, you should still toss it out the 1.1. 2022. Even if it only has been opened 3 months, the expire date tells you that the product shouldn't be used any longer If the product has a shelf life of more of 30 months, there's no need to write an expiration date (at least in Europe). Normally beacuse it means that the product will not loose stability.

Expiry date means that if the bottle is never opened, it will expire at that date PAO means it will expire in that time frame once opened Essentially if you open it today, it will expire 6 months later as the manufacturer tests the product stability and that’s how long it lasts after exposure to air do not continue use after PAO even though expiry date may be 2 years later…you set yourself up for contact dermatitis and skin irritation once product is opened it will expire by PAO…and not expiry date

you’re supposed to finish products or throw them away after the PAO

was produced in 01.2021 and expiry date is 3 years but if you will buy that product in 09.2021 and PAO is 6 months, you must use it in 6 months. P.S. I had Green tea fresh emulsion from Isntree and it's PAO was 6 months too, but I couldn't use it in this period. I used it about 3 weeks after ending shelf-life time and it was working as before.
