How often are you using it? I have combo skin and I use it 2-3 times a week and I never notice any side effects like that. I would suggest toning (pun not intended) it down and using it less frequently, because some people’s skin can react more to chemical exfoliants, especially with one as strong and effective as this product.

Consider using less frequently, starting once a week and building up as tolerated. Generally 2-3x a week of exfoliation is recommended. You could also try the Lotion formulation, which can help mitigate some of the dryness or try betaine salicylate containing products such as the Cosrx product I linked below. Much gentler than salicylic acid.

Dryness is normal as bha targets oil/sebum. As others have mentioned, tone down your usage as your skin gets used to the product. Eg,: once a week, then twice a week for a few weeks then maybe 3 times a week. You might never need to use it every day You can also apply for 15 mins and wash off or you can use a salycylic acid wash which would be even less irritating
