I used 0.2% serum similar to TO. I don't think being adventurous when it comes to retinol is a good thing. I was using 2-3 drops at the beginning, my skin is resilient and I was still purging the first month. Thinking back I'd probably start even lower with some cream just to get my skin ready. Of course, it's up to you, which percentage you choose but there is no need to rush. For acne, even lower percentages are beneficial. 🙂 Also be careful with the PAO of TO retinols, it's very short.
Innisfree retinol ampoule has 500IU, not sure how it translates into a percentage, but it's surely way below 0.1% so it's suitable for beginners.

hey, thanks for your insight and for looking up the % — it didn’t occur to me to take a look at their ig for this info! the Innisfree product does seem to be a good starting point, perhaps I should dial back on the adventurous spirit / not jump into TO just yet haha!
edit: ah! quick follow up question: what does PAO stand for? I’m guessing it’s referring to the product’s shelf life, given TO’s slightly dubious bottle packaging for its retinols?

TO retinol in squalene is ideal for beginners! 🥰 it was my first retinol and I didn’t regret trying it out, very gentle and good thing I didn’t experience purging but the downside is the PAO which is 3 months and I was not able to finish the bottle
