How to use Azelaic Acid in treating PIE?

Hope this is not a weird question. I want to combine niacinamide serum with Azelaic Acid in my skincare routine to treat PIE but not really sure how often should I use this combination that it wouldn’t irritate my skin? Or any other recommendations are also appreciated! Thanks in advance guys ❤️

If you’re using paulas choice, it’s not the Azelaic acid that’s harsh, it’s the salicylic acid. Azelaic acid is similar to retinol, where you can start alternating days and work up to every day. In the short term you won’t see results, in the long term it will make your skin stronger. I can’t use paulas choice all over my face because it’s too harsh personally, so I use it on acne spots only. I listed some products without Salicylic acid. Keep in mind a lot of these products harshness is not the active, but the overall formulation. Azelaic acid is hard to stabilize but has been shown to help rosacea and is generally good to improve sensitive skin. Same with niacinamide. I just chose the apad 101 because it has a 5.5 PH whereas naturium has a lower ph so it feels more like an acid on your skin. Naturium might be great for you, cause it’s an azelaic acid derivative, niacinamide and vitamin c all in one! I have extremely sensitive skin. If I was even a hare less sensitive I would go with naturium or facetheory. (Apad 101 is a from a new brand from Hungary so shipping is not as affordable) In my experience, niacinamide is even less tricky. I love it in the krave great barrier relief. I haven’t had any issues using niacinamide all the time right from the start! Also depends on what else is in it, although from my understanding azelaic acid has a transition period where your skin builds a tolerance whereas niacinamide does not. You should be able to use both together pretty seamlessly, you just might have to wait for a few weeks before you can use azelaic acid every day.

Omg thank you so much for your advice! The time and effort of your response is immaculate 😤👌🏼 Will definitely try one of these recommendations. I’ve been eyeing on the Great Barrier Relief for awhile.
