Irritation from one of these hyped products?

Hi! I have always occasionally had lot of acne breakouts on my forehead mainly because of lack of sleep and stress, but it started to subside after I started using TO Niacinamide which my skin really loves. THE PROBLEM NOW IS, I recently started getting these tiny red bumps on my cheeks, forehead and chin. I’m sure it’s not a pimple and I dont usually break out there (chin and cheeks) I recently just got my hands on two James Welsh and Hyram approved products which are the Krave Beauty Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser substituting it for my CosRx Salicylic Acid Cleanser And the I’m From Rice Toner substituting it for my Thayer’s Witch Hazel Rose Petal Toner ANYWAY, i’ve been wondering what could have caused these tiny bumps on my face. Could it be these two new products themselves or is it from combination with the current products i’ve been using? **Note u wont see moisturizer in this routine as i’m still looking for a moisturizer that can complement both TO Niacinamide and Retinol 1% in squalene. Would love to read what you guys think or if you had similar experiences with using these products I mentioned. Thanks! And sorry for the long post!!!!

When did you start using the retinol? Maybe you’re purging because of it?

I hate to tell you this but I think you overdid it on the niacinamide. While niacinamide is usually really good for the skin it can be sensitizing if your moisture barrier is suffering from retinoid use. The ordinary formulation is strong and I am from rice toner also has niacinamide high in the ingredients list. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.allure.com/story/niacinamide-skin-care-redness-side-effect/amp

😮😮 this is so helpful!! Thanks for that! Guess i’ll be pulling out the rice toner instead from my skincare or the ordinary? 😣 Is there a way I can still include these products in my skincare like is it okay if i just dont use them at the same routine/alrernating between days? I find that it would be such a huge waste of money to just let it go the I’m From Rice toner was pretty pricey. But thank you anyway! That made so much sense

Hmm I would suggest taking one product out and testing it for a week then incorporating the other product. It’s hard to pinpoint what product is causing your irritation if you incorporate too many things at once

Is your skin sensitive perhaps? Maybe you're allergic to one of the ingredients in the products

Yes I think maybe, that would be a good idea. I also saw a dermatologist when my acne was really bad, I found out I was allergic to silicon in products. 🤧

Is it your first time using retinol? If yes, it can be it as it is 1% 🤔

Hi i’ve used retinol eye creams in the past’ but of course only on the underye area and my skin didnt really react to it. I used the Yeouth Retinol Eye Cream. I only started using the ordinary retinol 2 weeks ago and I have noticed that when i use the retinol, i feel sort of like dead skin/could be product building up as I apply it on my face. 😕 Do you suggest I stop using the retinol or is it part of purging?
