Is SPF 15 enough

I know that you should try and always use SPF 30 +, however I can't currently access any new sunscreen at the moment (due to the pandemic) and so am using my SPF 15 that I have. I need to know is this enough to protect my skin? It is broad spectrum. Due to the fact that this is all I can use, I will cut out any ingredients that make your skin more sensitive to the sun (like retinol). Which ingredients do this? I know retinol does but do other actives (E.g BHAs) do this too? I have tagged the SPF I am using

yes it is, it just means that you have to reapply your sunscreen more often ! you can also boost the protection with antioxidants such as vitc ! other ingrediengs you should avoid is aha since it does make the skin more sensitive to the sun as well

Hi! If you will be able to get spf 30, it’s best to use a higher spf, but if you don’t have the ability to do so, spf 15 is better than nothing and it has proven to be helpful in preventing cancer. As far as photosensitivity, BHA doesn’t cause photosensitivity and there are actually some studies that suggest it can be uv protective (but i believe there is still not enought evidence). Ingredients that cause photosensitivity are: retinol, AHAs (especially glycolic acid - it has been the most studied in that aspect, but other ahas are probably having the same effect), hydroquinone, citrus oils

Vitamin C and AHAs cause photosensitivity too. You should be fine indoors, reapply regularly and keep away from windows!
